Nike looks to Barry Sanders, one of the most dynamic running backs to ever grace a football field, in its newest colorway for the Air Trainer 2 Premium that will be available on July 26.
Sanders’ incredible Heisman-winning campaign in 1988 (3,249 total yards and 39 touchdowns, both NCAA records) is often referred to as the greatest individual season ever played and serves as the inspiration of this new release. As part of the design, his stats and accomplishments are printed on the insole as a reminder that “Big Bad Barry” was a problem for opposing defenses.
In honor of Sanders’ alma mater, Oklahoma State University, the sneaker is primarily orange and black and features a nubuck material. Wolf grey with a safari print and Sanders’ famous “21” jersey number near the heel are used to unify and complete the colorway.
