It’s safe to say that 2016 has treated Donald Glover well.

In October, it was confirmed that he will play a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo film due in 2018. And recently his show, “Atlanta,” wrapped up its first season on FX, drawing praise from critics and viewers alike.

But even with his recent success on the acting front, Glover (I mean, Childish Gambino) decided to remind people that he still does music, too. On Thursday (Nov. 10), he released “Me and Your Mama,” the first track from his upcoming Awaken My Love album.

The six-minute song resembles a roller coaster ride, beginning with a dreamlike intro featuring a female vocalist. Then the song erupts into cacophonous midpoint, where Gambino passionately describes the intense hold a female love interest has on him. The song culminates with another mellow section, providing a smooth conclusion.

The song is one of 11 tracks on the album, which will be Gambino’s first project since his STN MTN mixtape in 2014.

Awaken My Love will be released in December, but you can listen to “Me and Your Mama” below. Let us know what you think in the comment section.
