Kevin Durant gears up for a comeback season with his eighth signature shoe.
Designed by Leo Chang in collaboration with Durant, the KD 8 prominently features two firsts for the swoosh: a Flyweave upper and full-length Zoom Air unit.
According to Nike, Flyweave is a textile material created through an intricate weaving process, resulting in a secure yet adaptable fit. That combination of stability and flexibility allows elite athletes like Durant to make sharp cuts and pivots on the court.
The full-length Zoom Air unit, specifically made for the KD8, features notches in the forefoot and heel that allow the cushioning to respond naturally to the movements of the wearer’s foot.
The KD 8 will be included in the upcoming 4th of July Collection, followed by the “V8” colorway (pictured above and below), which is slated to be released on July 11.
The “V8” colorway is bright crimson and black, drawing inspiration from Durant’s prized matte red Chevy Camaro equipped with a powerful V8 engine. But in addition to his love for American muscle cars, Durant admires the ferocity of the legendary sabertooth tiger, as evidenced by his tattoo above his right ankle. The heel design serves as a subtle nod to the sabertooth’s intimidating fangs.
