It’s been 14 years since Martin Lawrence headlined a stand-up comedy special, and the renowned comedian is set to return to your television sets with “Martin Lawrence Doin’ Time: Uncut” on Showtime.
According to the network, the 60-minute special will feature Lawrence touching on topics ranging from sex and relationships to Bill Cosby and Hollywood.
“I look forward to having my third concert film premiere on Showtime,” he said in a statement. “Fourteen years is a long time between concert specials and I am excited to know that my TV audience will be able to enjoy this show as if they came to see me live.”
The special – which airs on Friday, Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. – was filmed earlier this year at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles as part of Lawrence’s latest national tour, his first in four years. Lawrence serves as the executive producer alongside Studio71’s Gary Binkow and Michael Green.
Lawrence rose to fame with his hit ’90s sitcom, “Martin,” a show that displayed his versatility as a comedian in the numerous colorful characters he portrayed. His success on television propelled him to the big screen, where he enjoyed box office success with the “Bad Boys” and “Big Momma’s House” franchises.
And if you are unfamiliar with Lawrence’s brand of on-stage comedy, you can check out his previous specials “Runteldat” and “You So Crazy.”
