In recent years, Disney has given new life to its beloved animated classics with live-action adaptations – such as “Alice in Wonderland,” Maleficent” and “Cinderella.”
Next in line is “The Jungle Book,” and Disney released the official teaser trailer online Tuesday (Sept. 15), allowing the rest of the world to see the footage that was exclusively premiered at the D23 Expo last month.
But while “The Jungle Book” is considered a continuation of the aforementioned live-action trend, the lush environments and fearsome predators that populate the trailer are composed mostly of computer-generated imagery (CGI), with the lone exception being Mowgli (played by newcomer Neel Sethi).
The film was directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”) and features an all-star cast of actors – Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, Lupita Nyong’o and Giancarlo Esposito – who all lend their voices to the colorful creatures from the book and animated film.
“The Jungle Book” hits theaters on April 15, 2016.
