Death, time and love are metaphysical concepts that pique the curiosity of those who seek to understand the world around them. But what if those concepts were personified and could shake your hand? Or have a conversation with you?
The upcoming drama “Collateral Beauty,” starring Will Smith, explores that possibility in its first official trailer.
The film follows depressed advertising executive Howard Inlet (Smith) as he attempts to recover from the death of his daughter. As a coping mechanism, he writes letters to – before ultimately encountering – Love (Keira Knightley), Time (Jacob Lattimore) and Death (Helen Mitten).
Inlet believes those three concepts connect all people, stating “We long for love, we wish we had more time, and we fear death.”
“Collateral Beauty” was directed by David Frankel (“The Devil Wears Prada”) and written by Allan Loeb. The remaining cast includes notable names such as Kate Winslet, Edward Norton and Michael Pena.
The film hits theaters on Dec. 16, but you can check out the trailer below.
